The Peat Hill SDA Church, ‘Back to School Outreach’, in Unity District. St. Andrew hosted a back-to-school outreach program where 60 backpacks and 10 laptops were distributed.   The event was held on Sabbath August 31, 2024, during the Education Day celebration at the church under the theme, “Empowered by Faith to Conquer “. The aim was to ease the burden on families within the church and the community by offering free backpacks filled with much-needed supplies to prepare students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Peat Hill Early Childhood Institution, which the church operates, was also presented with school supplies. This was made possible by the generous donations of our overseas donors.

As a society, we must support our children in their developmental and formative years. Nelson Mandela stated, "Education is the most powerful tool you can use to change the world." Education is the key to success and self-empowerment. Children who are educated are more likely to make informed decisions and portray less negative behaviors.

Four scholarships totaling $150,000 were donated to four recipients ranging from early childhood to university level. According to Candice Harris, a member of the community and one of the scholarship recipients, " I am truly honored and appreciative of the kindness and generosity of every member who was involved in the process of rewarding me this scholarship." She further contends that the scholarship will assist in alleviating her financial burden and bringing her closer to her goals.

The church looks forward to continuing its outreach and offering help to those in need.

We are Jesus' hands and feet. Let us all play our part in the advancement of the country's future. Together, we can make a difference!
