The East Jamaica Conference Executive Committee has appointed Pastor Howard Smith as the new Director of Sabbath School and Personal Ministries and Special Assistant to the President with Responsibility for Evangelism. His appointment took effect on February 11, 2026.
Pastor Smith brings over 16 years of ministry experience, strong leadership, and devotion to the cause in his new role. Smith succeeds Pastor Michael Lewis, who accepted a call to serve as Pastor in the South Leeward Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Pastor Lewis served as the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director and Assistant to the president for Evangelism for one year, as he served in that position from January 1, 2025 until February 10 this year.
Since 2022, Pastor Smith has served as the Senior Pastor of the North Street District of Churches. He will continue to be the Senior Pastor of the District.
Pastor Howard Smith has been an ordained minister of the Gospel since November 26,2016, and has been a valued member of the East Jamaica Conference family since January 1, 2010. He is married to Denice, and together they have one adult daughter, Gia.
